The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education on Sunday. The examination is scheduled to be held on 5th May 2019.In this article, we will be discussing some important points and factors students should keep in their minds before going to appear in the exam.

You have been toiling day and night and waiting for the D-Day to prove your caliber and get into a medical college of your choice. The most important thing is to stay positive and gear up to give the test your best shot. Do not leave any room for mistakes.

    Correct Personal Details and Spellings:

This is the most important part of the online application forms. Please note that while students may be allowed to correct the images and other information, the facility to correct the personal details like name, father’s name, mother’s name, personal id number, etc., may not be provided. Students are hence advised to ensure that while filling the online application forms, these details are carefully filled. A spelling error while filling the online application forms may cause a student his/her admission later.

Selecting the right medium for question paper

NEET 2019 would be conducted in 8 regional languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil and Telugu), English, Hindi and Urdu. Students are advised to carefully select the medium of instruction as it cannot be changed later. Students who choose English as a medium would only get the paper in English language. Candidates opting for other languages would get a bilingual paper. Please remember, in case of ambiguity in the questions, the English version would be considered final.

Selecting the Examination Centre/ City in accordance with the language chosen:

    Eligibility Check:

All the candidates are again advised to thoroughly go through the eligibility criteria for NEET 2019 examination including the age limit and the qualifying examination. Candidates who apply but are found later not to be eligible would be summarily rejected. This rejection could be at any stage of the examination.

    Photograph to be saved

Apart from these, please remember that the application forms would not be considered complete until and unless the candidates upload their photograph and the signatures and paid the fees. Also please note that candidates would be required to carry the same photograph to the examination hall to be pasted on the day of NEET 2019. Hence, it would be advisable to keep a few copies safe.

    Print out of Confirmation Page

NEET 2019 application process is completely online. Students are advised to keep a copy of the printed online application forms and take at least 4 print outs of the confirmation slip. They are, however, not required to submit these to NTA. The copies are only for future reference.

    Plan your paper strategically

Planning how to solve the questions with the proper sequence is the most important factor for success. The objective is to solve easy questions across 3 subjects first followed by mid-level and difficult questions.

Every subject will have all these three types of questions. The first planning phase will require students to identify easy and mid-level questions across all three subjects. There is no need to start solving the paper as soon as you get but first 10-15 minutes to be given for planning. After identification, solve easy questions from each of 3 subjects. This will boost your confidence as well as most students with decent study can cross 350-400 marks with ease.

After easy questions, mid-level questions to be attempted. In case, you have time, you can revisit the difficult questions at the end or just leave the difficult question.

Do not get stuck with a question for too long

As you know there 180 questions which are to be solve in 180 minutes. That is why in this exam, every minute plays a crucial role in this time-driven entrance exam. If you have planned how much time you will allot for each question, go as per your plan. In case, you’re stuck on a question for over a minute or two, it is advisable to move on to the next and get back once you are done with the rest.

It will be totally waste of time to get stuck for a long time in one question. Do not let stress and panic ruin all the hard work you have done to prepare for the exam. Stay calm and remain positive. You may find the first few questions difficult, but do not panic. Move on to the next question and continue writing the test paper with the same spirit till the end.

    Practice

You must take multiple Mock tests to master these strategies. Just knowing strategies does not help. Once you start taking mock tests, you will realize you are able to complete NEET paper 15 minutes before time even after sparing 15 minutes for Planning. NEET official website has 2016 & 2017 actual papers. Please take those tests. Do not depend upon the Coaching class tests as it depends upon the teacher’s capability to design.

    Answer sheet

Ultimately your OMR Sheet will be judged. So be very meticulous about filling it. Candidates are advised to practice filling the OMR Sheet at home while practicing mock tests. Ensure that you fill all details in the OMR answer sheet properly without any over-writing. These are computer readable so any over-writing may lead to rejection. This is basic but most commonly made mistakes that many students in a hurry could end up a mismatch of question number with answer number. Never leave the transfer of answer to answer sheet at the end of the paper. Those are most stressful moments and chances of errors are high. As you solve, you must transfer answer to questions to which you are confident.
