The Delhi University has come up with a creative approach that is intended to smoothen out the admission process to its constituent colleges. Students are no more required to fill pre-admission forms and they can seek admission to the college of their choice if they are within the stipulated cut-off declared by the college. The colleges will declare the cut-off list based on the data of previous years. This information was given by Dr JM Khurana, Dean of Student’s Welfare, DU, who was speaking at a press conference in Delhi.
“Though the discontinuation of sale of pre-admission forms has been publicised well in advance, students continue to ask about these forms. It should be clear that students are not required to fill forms prior to the declaration of the cut-off list,” said Dr Khurana.
Admissions will be done for about 50,000 seats.
Moreover, the admission criteria of colleges will remain constant throughout the admission procedure and colleges will have to accept every student who clears the cut-off list.
“There is no question of first-come-first-served. Moreover, colleges cannot change their additional criteria midway. It will remain constant throughout the admission procedure,” said Dr Khurana.
