OPSC Notified Recruitment for Geophysicist to Odisha Mining and Geology Service

Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) invited online applications for recruitment of 05 Geophysicists in Group-B of Odisha Mining and Geology Service under Steel and Mines Department. Interested candidates can apply online through the proforma application available on OPSC  till 07 November 2012

Detail of Vacancies:

Name of Post: Geophysicist (Group B)

No of Vacancies: 5 (UR Female-1; SEBC-1; SC-1; ST-2)

Age Limit (as reckoned on 01/08/2012):

Minimum: 21 years (Candidate should not be born after 01/08/1991)

Maximum: 32 years (Candidate should not be born before 02/08/1980)
(Maximum age relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC/Women/EX-SM and by 10 years for PH/PWD candidates)

Application fee:

A non-refundable application fee of Rs.200 has to be deposited in any at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) using a fee-payment challan (Pay-in-Slip) available on the website.
(SC/ST candidates from Odisha State are exempted from payment of fee)  

Educational Qualifications:

Post Graduate Degree in Exploration or Applied Geophysics from a recognized University / Degree in Geology and Geophysics from IIT or equivalent degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized institution.

Candidates must be able to speak, read and write Odia fluently and must have passed at least an examination in Odia language equivalent to that of Middle English School Standard conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha / Education Department of Government of Odisha /any other Board or Council of Secondary Education approved by the Government of Odisha in support of passing of Odia Language Test (Middle English School Standard).

Pay Scale:

Rs.9300 – 34800 + GP of Rs.4600 + Dearness Allowance and other Allowances.

Mode of Selection:

Final selection would be done on the basis of candidates’ career assessment and their performance in Viva Voce Test/Interview.
The Commission, at its discretion, can short-list/select candidates for conducting interview by making a preliminary selection either on the basis of evaluation of their academic career taking into account the requisite minimum educational qualification or by conducting a preliminary written test.
Candidates called for the viva voce test/Interview will be required to produce original certificates, mark-sheets etc. of the attested copies for verification at the time of viva voce test / Interview. If a candidate fails to furnish any of the original documents in respect of the attested copies submitted with the application for verification on the date of viva voce test/Interview before the viva voce test/Interview starts, he/she shall not be allowed to appear at the viva voce test/Interview.
Finally selected candidates/candidates appointed to the service would be on probation for a period of two years with effect from the date of appointment.

How To Apply:

On successful submission of application form, system would generate an Unique Registration ID. Candidates should note down this Unique Registration ID for future correspondence.

After successfully submitting the online application form, candidates should take its printout and retain it for future.

Candidates would be required to send this printout along with OPSC copy of fee payment Challan and copies of specified documents/certificates to “The Special Secretary, Odisha Public Service Commission, 19, Dr. P.K. Parija Road, Cuttack-753001” by Registered Post/Speed Post/Courier Service so as to reach the office by the last date.

The candidate can also submit the copy of the Printout of the Online Application Form in the OPSC office directly / personally on or before the last date

The envelope containing the application must be super-scribed “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF GEOPHYSICIST”.

Certificate of Admission to the viva voce test / Interview to the eligible candidates will be uploaded in the OPSC Website prior to the date of viva voce test / Interview which will be published in the Website and News paper.
No one will be admitted to the viva voce test / Interview unless he/she holds the certificate of admission. The eligible candidates are required to download their Admission Certificate from Commission’s Website and produce the same before the Centre Supervisor for admission to the Examination Centre. No separate correspondence will be made on this score.
