The Parliament of India is the supreme legislative body in India. Founded in 1919, the Parliament alone possesses legislative supremacy and thereby ultimate power over all political bodies in India. It invites application from eligible candidates for the Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ ST/ OBC.

Name of the Post & Number of Vacancies

  • Parliamentary Reporter Grade II: 7 vacancies
  • Parliamentary Interpreter Grade II: 9 vacancies (2 English/ Hindi, 1 Bodo; 1 Dogri; 1 Gujarati; 1 Kashmiri; 1 Konkani; 1 Santhali; 1 Sindhi)
  • Hindi Assistant: 7 vacancies
  • Junior Library Assistant: 14 vacancies
  • Security Assistant Grade II: 17 vacancies
  • Junior Clerk: 15 vacancies

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Parliamentary Reporter Grade II: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university and possessing minimum shorthand speed of 160 words per minute (wpm) in English/ Hindi. Desirable: Certificate in computer course recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)/ Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) or courses equivalent to 'O' Level in terms of syllabus and duration of course as prescribed by DOEACC.

Parliamentary Interpreter Grade II: Master's degree in English from a recognised university with medium of Hindi language up to degree Level OR Master's degree in Hindi from a recognised university with medium of English language up to degree Level. Desirable: (1) Experience in translation or interpretation work; (2) Certificate in computer course recognised by AICTE/DOEACC or courses equivalent to 'O' Level in terms of syllabus and duration of course as prescribed by DOEACC.

Hindi Assistant: Master's degree in Hindi from a recognised university with English as a subject at the Degree Level OR Master's Degree in English from a recognised university with Hindi as a subject at the Degree Level OR Master's Degree in any subject from a recognised university with Hindi and English as subjects at the Degree Level OR Master's Degree in any subject with Hindi medium from a recognised university and English as a subject at the Degree Level OR Master's Degree in any subject with English medium from a recognised university and Hindi as a subject at the Degree Level.

Junior Library Assistant: Bachelor's degree in Library Science from a recognised university.  Desirable: Certificate in computer course recognised by AICTE/ DOEACC or courses equivalent to 'O' Level in terms of syllabus and duration of course as prescribed by DOEACC.

Security Assistant Grade II: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university and possessing the following physical standards and skills

  • Male Height- 167.5 cms (relaxable by 2.4 cms in case of Hill area residents)
  • Chest- 76.5 cms to 81cms
  • Female Height -154.6 cms (relaxable by 2.4 cms in case of Hill area residents)
  • Vision - 6/12 in both eyes without glasses. The candidates must not have squint in eyes and should possess high colour vision. They should also be free from physical defect, deformity, and diseases.

Desirable: 'C' Certificate in NCC or sportsmen of distinction who have represented a State or the Country at the National or International level or who have represented a University in recognised inter-university tournament

Junior Clerk: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university and a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute in English/ Hindi stream. Preference will be given to persons having typing speed of 40 words per minute both in English and Hindi. Desirable: Certificate in computer course recognized by AICTE/ DOEACC or courses equivalent to 'O' Level in terms of syllabus and duration of course as prescribed by DOEACC.

Age Limit (as on 3 October 2011): Maximum 32 years (for SC/ ST), Maximum 30 years (for OBC). For Parliamentary Interpreter Grade II (regional languages stream) Maximum 40 years (for SC/ ST), Maximum 38 years (for OBC).

How to Apply: Eligible candidates have to apply in typewritten form for the above posts, either in English or in Hindi, strictly in the prescribed format. The format of the application can be downloaded from the website http://www.loksabha.nic.in/ under the link ‘Recruitment'.
