The President Pranab Mukherjee will be visiting the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune on 15 June 2014 to award degrees and inaugurate a new 98-acre IISER campus in Pashan.
During the ceremony, 92 students will receive graduation degree and 13 students will be awarded their doctorate degrees by the President.
State governor K Sankaranarayanan, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Union minister of human research and development Smriti Irani will also be present at the inauguration.
While addressing a news conference on 12 June, the director of IISER Pune, K N Ganesh, said that in a span of eight years, IISER, Pune has grown in stature to make a notable impact on science education and research.
There are five IISERs in the country at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvantpuram that are offering five-year integrated dual master in studies degree as well as doctorate degree.
IISER, Pune currently has a total of 600 students enrolled for the dual MS degree, 200 PhD students and 90 faculty members.
