Punjab Police recruitment rally has begun today! In the initial phase, Dope testing has been started in the recruitment places at Amritsar and Jalandhar. The recruitment is taking place for selecting candidates for 7416 posts.
Considered one of the biggest recruitment rallies of the year, the police recruitment drive has been started by Punjab government. Near about seven lakh candidates have applied against 7416 vacancies.
All the procedures for the dope test has begun at Amritsar and Jalandhar. If the sample of the candidate doesn't qualify, another test will be done for confirmation.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Wednesday: "I have invited all media to come and see the dope testing being done for the police recruitment. The recruitment process started today. We want to show to the country that Punjab is being maligned by vested interests in the name of drugs. Even you (media) can tested."
The dope test is a measure to bring out the reality of drug addiction in the State.
Punjab Police had invited applications against the massive vacancies in the first half of the year. Applications were sought from candidates with an educational qualification of 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized Education Board/University, and the candidate must have passed Matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi language.
The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of PMT, PST and the Interview-cum-Personality Test. Only candidates who clear the PMT and PST will be called for interview on the statewide merit list.
