Bhubaneswar, Sept. 14: A number of top notch researchers and scientists including world renowned Industry 4.0 expert Prof. Jay Lee, Distinguished Professor at the University of Cincinnati, USA, will take part in the deliberations at the 4-day International Conference on ‘Role of Industrial Engineering in Industry 4.0 Paradigm’ to be held at the SOA (Deemed to be University) here from September 27 to 30.
The conference is being organized by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE), Odisha Chapter, in collaboration with SOA and will be held alongside the Diamond Jubilee National Convention of the IIIE, Mumbai.
A host of experts drawn from academia, research organizations and industry from across the globe are expected to attend the conference, Prof. R.P.Mohanty, President of IIIE, Odisha chapter, said.
Mr. Rajkeswur Purryag, Former President of the Republic of Mauritius, will inaugurate the conference while the Ambassador of Israel in India, Mr. Daniel Carman will be the chief guest in the valedictory programme. A diamond jubilee postal envelope will be released on the occasion by Odisha’s Chief Post Master General, Dr. S.K. Kamila.
Prof. Lee is Ohio Eminent Scholar, L.W. Scott Alter Chair Professor and is the founding director of National Science Foundation (NSF) and University Cooperative Research Center (UCRC) on Intelligent Maintenance Systems. He will be the principal keynote speaker at the conference.
Prof. Lee‘s current research focuses on predictive big data analytics and cyber physical systems for intelligent maintenance, prognostics and health management (PHM) and Industry 4.0 systems.
Industry 4.0 denotes the fourth industrial revolution propelling the world since 2015 with the aid of Cyber Technology, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, he said.
As many as 260 technical papers from India and abroad will be presented in the conference by academia and industry professionals while 15 eminent researchers from around the world will deliver keynote addresses. Besides, 50 technical posters will be displayed by student participants from all over the country.
The other researchers expected to attend the conference will include Prof. O.P. Yadav of North Dakota State University, USA, Prof. Jyoti K. Sinha of Manchester University, UK, Prof. Benoit Iung of Lorraine University, France, Prof. David Mba of De Montfort University, UK, Prof. Aditya Parida and Prof. Matti Rantatalo of Lulea University of Technology, Sweden, Prof. Mirka Kans of Linnaeus University, Sweden and Dr. Berna Ulutas of Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Turkey.
Prof. Prem Vrat, former Director, IIT, Roorkee, Mr. Ranjan Mohapatra, Director (HR), IOCL, Dr. Ashok Mohapatra, eminent neurosurgeon and Director (Health Services) at SOA, Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO, Vedanta Ltd, Dr. Arvind Ankalikar, Global Head, Oracle Practice, L and T Infotech, Mr. Vijay Kalra, Chief, Manufacturing Operations, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd and Dr. Ganesh Viswakarma, , Director (Projects), SAIL will represent the top management forum.
The subjects to be debated at the conference include the changing role of IE profession over the last few decades, Industry 4.0: A future possibility in centralized vibration-based condition monitoring of machines and Factory of the Future: Industrial or Cultural Revolution?, Prof. Mohanty said.
