Hailing from Gorakhpur, Rohit Agarwal bagged 395 rank in JEE exam (Joint Entrance Exam), 975 in AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam) and 6 rank in UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam). He talks about his success mantra.

Q. How did you prepare for the exam?
Rohit Agarwal: I just focused on strengthening my basics so that I can understand each topic well and attempt my questions.

Q. How many hours a day did you devote for studying?
Rohit Agarwal: I devoted 8 to 10 hours every day on my studies.

Q. Did you pursue your hobby while preparing for the exam?
Rohit Agarwal: Preparing for board and competitive exams left me with little time to pursue my hobby. However I tried fetching some time for listening to music almost every day.

Q. How many hours did you sleep during exams?
Rohit Agarwal:
I slept for 6 to 7 hours every day to improve concentration.

Q. What time of the day did you find best for preparation?
Rohit Agarwal: It varies from student to student according to his/her comfort. I mostly preferred night study.

Q. Is coaching necessary to gain command on the subject?
Rohit Agarwal: No

Q. Were you scared of any particular subject?
Rohit Agarwal: No. But I stressed on time management in order to complete my paper in time.

Q. Did you suffer from ‘Board Exam Fever’? How did you cope with the stress?
Rohit Agarwal: No. My preparations were going in right direction so I was confident and stress free.

Q. Any particular strategy for your preparation?
Rohit Agarwal: I just focused on strengthening my basics so that I can understand each topic well and attempt my questions.

Q. Is there any subject that you really hated?
Rohit Agarwal: I dislike grammar.

Q. How active were you in extra-curricular activities?
Rohit Agarwal: I was not very active in extra-curricular activities. I just gave speech on special occasions in school like Independence/Republic day etc.

Q. What are your plans for future?
Rohit Agarwal: The counselling for entrance to IIT JEE has started and I am hopeful to get admission to Electrical Engineering in one of the IITs.
