The Staff Selection Commission is all set to hold a Limited Departmental Competitive Examination on 4 November 2012 at Delhi, Allahabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh and Raipur.
Following are the Schemes of the Examination:
• Written Examination will carry a maximum of three hundred marks . There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in written examination in Paper-1.
• The paper would be divided in two types, part 1 which will be objective type and have hundred general awareness questions and hundred questions on comprehension and writing ability of English Language. The whole paper will be of two hundred marks.
• Part two of the paper would be of the conventional type, which would include noting, drafting and office procedure. The whole paper would be of hundred marks.
• Question paper would be made available in both Hindi and English.
• Visually Handicapped candidates would be allowed EXTRA TIME of around forty minutes in both paper one and two.
• Deduction up to five percent of the maximum marks in the written subject will be made for illegible writing.
• There is a provision of using a magnifying glass if needed for candidates, however they would not be treated as visually handicapped candidates
Following is the Syllabus of the written examination
PAPER :1
• General Awareness: Students would be tested on their general awareness . The test would be also asked in lieu to India and its neighbouring countries.
• Comprehension and Writing Ability of the English Language: Questions would be designed to test the candidates understanding and knowledge of English language , Vocabulary, spelling, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms and antonyms etc. A comprehension passage will also be given in the test.
PAPER :2
• The paper on noting, drafting and office procedure will be designed to test the candidates knowledge of office procedure in the secretariat and the attached offices and their ability to write and understand notes and drafts will also be checked.
• Candidates are also required to study the manual of office procedures before the examination.
