Q: I have qualified SET in 2001 and have been working for a company for the past 12 years. Now, I want to enter into the field of education as a Lecturer. Do I have to appear in the UGC NET June 2013 examination?
A: No, you need not to appear in UGC NET examination as candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship conducted before 1 June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Lectureship anywhere in India. Besides this, the following are the other exemption (Eligibility for Lectureship) for UGC NET June Examination 2013:
- Candidates who are or have been awarded a PhD degree as per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD degree) Regulations, 2009, will be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET / SLET / SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities / Colleges / Institutions.
- Lectureship aspirants who have qualified UGC/CSIR JRF prior to 1989 need not to appear in NET.
