Let us assume that,

z = x + iy

So,

|z|² + |z – 3|² + |z – i|² = x² + y² + (x – 3)² + y² + x² + (y – 1)²

                                    = 3x² + 3y² – 6x – 2y + 10

                                    = 3 [x² + y² – 2x – 2.y.(1/3)] + 10
