West Bengal Police Recruitment Board invited applications for recruitment of Sub-Inspector / Lady Sub-Inspector (UNARMED) Post 2013. The West Bengal Police is one of the two police forces of the Indian state of West Bengal. (The other is the Kolkata Police, which has a separate jurisdiction.) The aims and objectives of West Bengal Police is to apply the law fairly and firmly in order to prevent and detect crime, and bring to justice those who break the law.

Age Limit
· Candidates’ age should be between 20 – 27 years as on 1 January 2013.
· Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC and ST candidates of West Bengal only
· Upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years for OBC candidates of West Bengal only
· Upper age limit is 35 years for departmental candidates of West Bengal Police
Educational Qualification
Candidates should have Degree from a recognized University or its Equivalent.
Physical Standard:
· For Male Candidates: - Height-1.67 mtrs. Weight- 51.5 Kgs Chest- 79 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms. Vision-According to Health Manual.
· Hill men of Darjeeling District: - Height-1.60 mtrs. Weight- 50 Kgs Chest- 76.20 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms. Vision-According to Health Manual.
· For Female Candidates: - Height-1.60 mtrs. Weight- 45 Kgs Vision-According to Health Manual.
· Hill women of Darjeeling District: - Height-1.55 mtrs. Weight- 45 Kgs Vision-According to Health Manual.
Application Form Fee
· Candidates are required to pay Rs. 150 in the form of A/C Payee Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank / IPO purchased in favour of “West Bengal Police Recruitment Board” payable at Kolkata.
· SC/ST Candidates are not required to pay any Fee.
Pay Scale: Rs. 7,100-37,600/- (i.e. Pay Band-3) + Grade Pay Rs. 3,900/- plus admissible allowances.
Syllabus for WB Police Examination 2013 :
1. (a) General Studies ( WB Police Preliminary and Final Examination ) :
West Bengal Police Questions will be set to test the General Knowledge of candidates in different spheres.
(b) Arithmetic ( WB Police Preliminary and Final Examination ) :
WB Police Questions will be set on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
2. English ( West Bengal Police Final Examination ) :
WB Police Exam Questions may be set on all or any of the following items :
(a) Drafting of a report from the points or material supplied ; (b) Translation from Bengali / Hindi / Urdu / Nepali, as the case may be to English, (c) Condensing of a prose passage ( summary / precis ) (d) Correct use of words, correction of sentences, use of common phrases, synonyms and antonyms etc.
3. Bengali / Urdu / Hindi / Nepali ( West Bengal Police Final Examination ) :
WB Police Exam Questions may be set on all or any of the following items :
(a) Drafting of a report from the points or material supplied ; (b) Translation from English to Bengali / Hindi / Urdu / Nepali, as the case may be, (c) Condensing of a prose passage ( summary / precis ). (d) Grammar.
Selection Procedure
Applicants will be selected through written test, physical test, medical test, document verification and personal interview.
