Apr 26, 2016, 16:25 IST

Previously, SBI Clerk exam had only one examination followed by the interview. But this year onwards, SBI clerk will be conducting the recruitment process in two phases. To know more, Check the a article.

State Bank of India, the largest commercial bank of the country, has announced the recruitment for junior associates in customer sales and support and agriculture. The bank has introduced a new method of selection for these posts from this year onwards. For the first time, there will be a preliminary examination followed by a main examination for shortlisting the candidates for the posts. The interview process is subject to approval from the government and even if the interview is not held, there will be a language test for candidates who cannot produce evidence of studying it in the 10th standard. Hence, the whole method will be lengthy as well as difficult because of more layers of selection added to it. Let us find out why the same has been done this year.

SBI Clerk: Why the New Pattern?

The new pattern of examination for SBI Clerical has already been tested in the IBPS Clerical recruitment for the year 2016. So, SBI has also decided to introduce the same scheme of selection in the recruitment of associates in various branches of the bank. There are various reasons for this:

Interview to be done away with: Though it has been notified that the interview process will be there subject to the government of India approval, there is very little chance of conducting interviews because of the policy of the new government. Hence, it was necessary to subject the candidates to something else in order to judge their suitability for the posts

Increased Competition: Though it seems a bit too much to conduct a preliminary examination for recruitment in clerical cadre, the increased competition for these posts has made the authorities do so

Introducing a cost effective method of elimination: The preliminary examination is conducted with the sole purpose of eliminating candidates as the marks will not be added to the final merit list. Previously, everybody was allowed to sit for the only written examination and evaluating the answer scripts were more difficult

Evaluation of necessary skills: As an associate in a bank, you have to be prompt and have to have presence of mind. The preliminary examination tests the candidates for these qualities and the ones who possess the same, are allowed to go ahead for further testing

SBI recruitment has always generated a huge response from the job seekers because of the glamour of working with a Fortune 500 organization. In order to get there, you have to give your best and that is what SBI is asking from you. So, go ahead and show the potential you have, the hunger you have for success.

All the best!!
