World Soil Day is observed every year on December 5 to raise awareness regarding the importance of healthy soil for the sustenance of life on earth. The quality of soil is getting degraded, which is also impacting the environment. 

2. (a) Steve Smith 

Pat Cummins has been appointed as Australia's 47th Test captain and former skipper Steve Smith has been appointed as the Vice-captain of the test team. Steve Smith has made comeback to a leadership role almost 3 years after he had to step down as captain of the Australian team following the ball-tampering row in South Africa in 2018. Smith had been banned from any leadership roles for two years post the incident. 

3. (d) Babri Masjid demolition 

The Babri Masjid demolition took place on December 6, 1992 by a large group of activists of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and allied organisations. The 16th-century mosque in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, had been a subject of a lengthy socio-political dispute.

4. (a) Argentina
Argentina defeated six-time winners Germany 4-2 in the FIH Men's junior hockey world cup 2021 final at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha on December 5, 2021. Argentina has become the only third team after Germany (six wins) and India (2001, 2016) to win multiple Junior Hockey WC titles.

Defending champions India finished fourth in the junior hockey world cup 2021 after losing 1-3 to France in the third-place match. This was India's second clash with France in the tournament after their opening game on November 24th, which they narrowly lost by 4-5.

Mahaparinirvan Diwas is observed annually on December 6th to mark the death anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution of India. Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, is known for his significant contribution in shaping India that it is today. This year, the day commemorates Dr. B R Ambedkar’s 65th death anniversary. 

8. (d) December 4th 

The Indian Navy Day is observed annually on December 4 to recognize and acknowledge the role and the achievements of the Indian Navy. Navy Day is celebrated on this day to mark the anniversary of Operation Trident which was launched during the Indo-Pak war in 1971.
