Nissan, Japan's third-largest automaker unveiled Fuga luxury sedan.

Nissan, Japan's third-largest automaker unveiled Fuga luxury sedan on 26 October 2010. With the unveiling of the Fuga, Nissan stepped into the hybrid car market. The model is Nissan’s first electric-gasoline hybrid using its own system for the mass market. Nissan’s electro-gasoline hybrid was unveiled in the backdrop of Japanese automakers struggling with a strong yen. A strong yen makes japanese goods more expensive as a result many firms are currently looking to shift production overseas in a bid to stay competitive and reduce costs. Fuga hybrid’s starting price would be 5.775 million yen (71500 dollars) compared with 3.990 million for the gasoline model, Infiniti M model. Earlier in October 2010 Honda Motor had launched a hybrid version of its popular Fit subcompact car in Japan. Hybrid version of Fit subcompact car is the cheapest petrol-electric car available in Japan and is well placed to give competition to Toyota Prius.
