History:

Women's Twenty20 was adopted as an international cricket game format since 2004. The ICC held the first Women's World Twenty20 in England in June 2009 where England emerged the champion of the first World Twenty20 championship. The ICC had announced in 2006 that only the top 10 ranked women's sides would have Test and ODI (and therefore Twenty20 International) status. Women's cricket has been played internationally since Dec 1934 when the inaugural women's Test match between England women and Australia women was played. Women's One Day Internationals (ODIs) have also been contested since 1973.
