The Indian Railway Ministry announced on February 19, 2018 that it would be extending the upper age limit for the ongoing recruitment of Group C Level-1 and Level-2 posts, by two years.
The revised age limit is as follows:

Other Important Details
The Ministry stated that the last date for submission of the applications will be extended suitably.
The government has also decided to give the applicants the option to take the exam in regional languages such as Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Odiya, Telugu, Bangla and others.

Background
• Last week, the Union Ministry of Railways announced one of the world’s largest recruitment processes by inviting online applications for around 89409 posts in Group C Level I (Erstwhile Group D) & Level II categories.
• The posts under Group C Level-I category include Track maintainer, Points man, Helper, Gateman and Porter in the age group of 18-31 years.
• The posts under Group C Level –II category include Assistant Loco Pilots and Technicians such as fitter, crane driver, blacksmith and carpenter in the age group of 18-28 years.
• The candidates in the age group of 18-31 years, who have passed class 10th and have an industrial training certificate (ITI), will be eligible for Group C Level-1 posts.
• The candidates in the age group of 18-28 years, who have passed class 10th and have an industrial training certificate (ITI) or have a diploma in engineering or a graduation in engineering, will be eligible to apply for Group C Level-2 posts.
• The SC/ST candidates will be provided with free sleeper class railway pass facility for computer-based aptitude tests, physical efficiency tests and document verification during the recruitment stages.
