Rajinikanth conferred with Indian Film Personality of the year 2014 award at IFFI

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was on 20 November 2014 honoured with the centenary award for Indian Film Personality of the year 2014 at the 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The award consisted of a cash prize of 10 lakhs rupees, a certificate and the Silver Peacock Medal. The award for Indian Film Personality of the year category was instituted in 2013 to commemorate 100 years of Indian Cinema.

IFFI 2014 was inaugurated on 20 November 2014 by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley.

Around 178 films from 79 countries across different categories are scheduled to be screened during this 11-day long festival.

The festival will also pay homage to departed talents Robin Williams, Richard Attenborough, Zohra Sehgal, Suchitra Sen and Farooq Shaikh by screening some of their films.
