Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi introduced a centralized platform aimed at making workplaces safer for women by handling complaints of sexual harassment in a timely and easy manner. The release of the portal took place on August 29, 2024.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry, “The SHe-Box portal represents a major step forward in the government's efforts to protect women at work.”
Features of the SHe-Box Portal
The Ministry of Women and Child Development explained that the portal would serve as a centralized hub for information on internal and local committees across the country. The portal will encompass both government and private sectors.

Key features of the portal include:
- Complaint Filing: Women can submit complaints directly through the portal.
- Status Tracking: Users can monitor the progress of their complaints in real time.
- Timely Processing: The system ensures that grievances are addressed promptly.
- Nodal Officer: A designated officer oversees the process, enabling real-time monitoring of complaints for efficient resolution.
SHe-Box Portal: Safe Work Environment for Women
Speaking to the public, WCD Minister Annapurna Devi emphasized how crucial the effort is to foster a more safe and welcoming workplace for women.
"This project is a vital step toward offering a more effective and safe forum for handling accusations of sexual harassment at work. It strengthens the government's resolve to provide women in India with a more secure and welcoming workplace," the spokesperson said.
As per the statement issued by the minister, the introduction of the SHe-Box portal is in line with the government's larger goal of creating Viksit Bharat by 2047, which places a major focus on development led by women.
