Indian business tycoon and philanthropist Azim Premji was bestowed with the highest French civilian distinction (Knight of the Legion of Honour) in Bengaluru on November 28, 2018. Premji, who is the chairman of Wipro, received the award for his outstanding contribution to developing the information technology industry in India, his economic outreach in France and his laudable contribution to the society as a philanthropist.

President Ram Nath Kovind on November 28, 2018 appointed Arvind Saxena as the new Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission.The term of his appointment will be from the date he enters the Chairman office till August 7, 2020 when he attains the age of 65 years or till further orders, whichever is earlier.

The Nepal government on November 27, 2018 launched a social security scheme for the formal sector workers of the country. The new social security scheme is contribution based and it will cover health and medical facilities, safe motherhood, accident and physical incapacity security, security to dependent family members and security at old age.

A section of stairs from the Eiffel Tower in Paris was sold for almost 170,000 euros, around three times the pre-sale estimate. The auctioneers announced that more than two dozen wrought-iron steps from the original spiral structure, from between the second and third floors of the Paris landmark, were sold to a Middle East collector. The stairs, which stand 4.3 m high and were part of a private Canadian collection.

India and China on November 28, 2018 signed a protocol on hygiene and inspection requirements for the export of fish oil and fish meal in New Delhi during the visit of Hu Wei, the Vice Minister of China’s General Administration of Customs. The agreement would enable India to commence export of fish meal and fish oil to China.

The movie 'Donbass' directed by Sergei Loznitsa won the coveted Golden Peacock Award at the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which concluded in Goa on November 28, 2018.
