Senior Telugu sports journalist Maddineni Babu Rao passed away on 17 December 2014 at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh following a cardiac problem.

Senior Telugu sports journalist Maddineni Babu Rao passed away on 17 December 2014 at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh following a cardiac problem. He was 74.

• Born at Gannavaram, Andhra Pradesh in 1941, Babu Rao worked as physical education teacher in Zilla Parishad High Schools at Kaluvapamula, Jaggaiahpeta, Mylavaram, Penamaluru, Guntupalli.
• After his retirement as a physical education teacher, Rao wrote sports news for some Telugu newspapers including Eenadu, Vaartha and Andhra Jyothi and covered several national and State meets.
• He was the first Telugu sports journalist in the Krishna district and had an authority on all sports.
