Gujarat Titans (GT) became part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022 as one of the two new teams. The franchise was bought by CVC Capital Partners for ₹5625 crore (approximately $750 million). In the 2022 auction, they signed Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill, with Pandya being appointed as the captain. Ashish Nehra took charge as the head coach, while Gary Kirsten joined as the mentor and batting coach. Vikram Solanki was appointed as the director of cricket.
Gujarat Titans made an instant impact by winning the IPL trophy in their debut season in 2022. They continued their strong performance in 2023, reaching the final but narrowly losing to Chennai Super Kings in a last-ball thriller.
Despite an auction where their key players included Hardik Pandya, David Miller, Rashid Khan, and Mohammad Shami, not many expected them to perform exceptionally. However, under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, the team performed beyond expectations, emerging as a dominant force in their first two seasons.
The 2024 season, however, was challenging for GT. Hardik Pandya moved to the Mumbai Indians, and Shubman Gill, the highest run scorer of 2023, was named the new captain. Unfortunately, injuries and frequent changes in the playing XI affected their performance, leading to an early exit from the tournament without making the playoffs. Gujarat Titans (GT) stands as a premier franchise cricket team situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, actively participating in the esteemed Indian Premier League (IPL). The Titans find their home ground at the illustrious Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Presently in IPL 2025 seasons, the team is under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, succeeding Hardik Pandya, who was traded back to the Mumbai Indians as a captain for IPL 2025 seasons. Steering the team's strategies and nurturing its talent is coach Ashish Nehra.
Notably, the Gujarat Titans clinched their inaugural title in the 2022 season, led by the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. Remarkably, this triumph coincided with their debut season in the league, marking a spectacular entry into the IPL arena.
