The Bahmani sultanate was a Muslim state of Deccan in Southern India & was one of the great medieval Indian kingdoms. The empire was founded by Ala-ud-Din Hassan Bahman Shah (also known as Hasan Gangu) who had revolted against the Delhi Sultanate of Muhammad bin Tughlaq. In the fifteenth century the capital of the Bahmani sultanate was moved from Gulbarga to Bidar.

Later on Bahmani Sultanate dissolved into 5 kingdoms namely, Ahmednagar, Bijapur, Golconda, Bidar and Berar.
