Gujarat (GNFC Township): 222 peafowl were counted during an event in June 2024.
Odisha (Pakidi Hills, Ganjam district): Roughly 2000 peacocks were estimated in June 2021 due to community-based conservation efforts.
Rajasthan: The last state-wide census in 2019 recorded 14,405 peafowl. A survey in western Rajasthan around 2018 estimated a much larger population of approximately 343,869. More recent comprehensive numbers are unavailable.
Tamil Nadu: A full population estimate (pre-current date) suggested between 3.8 million and 6.1 million peafowl across the state. More recent, precise census numbers for 2024-2025 are not available, but sightings have reportedly increased in the last 20 years.
