The University Grants Commission has released a list of 11 Universities along with the list issued in March 2021 which will offer recognised Open and Distance Learning Programmes from the 2022 Academic year until 2025-26. The list of universities released by the UGC has been prepared after a meeting of the Standing Appellate Committee of the Commission conducted in June and July 2021.
The University Grants Commission recognised 11 universities for provisioning Open and distance Learning programmes until 2025-26 which include one university from Gujarat, Karnataka, Pondicherry and Rajasthan, two each from Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh and three universities from West Bengal.
In a meeting conducted on July 1, 2021, the UGC also decided that the July 2021 academic session for the Open and Distance Learning programme will begin from November 2021 and the last date for the admissions will be December 15, 2021.
Along with the list of universities, the UGC has also released a list of recognised programmes and have stated that the programmes not recognised must note be started and students also must note be admitted to unrecognised programmes.
Universities approved earlier
The UGC had last month allowed four universities including Mahatma Gandhi University-Kerala, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences and Bharathiar University -Tamil Nadu, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute-West Bengal to offer online degree programmes.
