Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal launched an Activity portal of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The portal was launched in the virtual mode as part of the AIU National Conference of Vice-Chancellors conducted for Reimagining Indian Universities along with celebrating the 94th Foundation Day of AIU.
On the first day of the conference more than 500 Vice-chancellors, dignitaries and guests from universities across the country and other parts of the works attended online. The National Conference was inaugurated by Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and the AIU Foundation Day lecture was presented by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.

Special addresses were given by Professor DP Singh, chairman, UGC, Professor Anil Sahasrabuddhe, chairman AICTE, Professor KK Agarwal, Chairman NBA, and Professor Tej Pratap President AIU were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
According to media reports in a statement released it has been mentioned that the AIU portal will provide value-added services to its members in terms of completely automating the equivalence of foreign degrees with Indian Universities.
AIU Activity portal details
As per the details mentioned in the statement, the AIU portal will contain several portals including the AIU admission portal which will provide one-click information to the students regarding the academic programmes in the different universities while the AIU job portal will help in connecting job seekers with the vacancies available in the different universities. Finally, the AIU collaboration portal will help universities to showcase their best departments for forging national and international collaborations.
Along with the launch of the AIU Activity portal, the Union HRD Ministry also supported the UGC decision to conduct the final semester examinations for the students, he stated that the decision of conducting the exams for the final semester students is in the best interest of the future of the students.
