CBSE Class 10th English Exam 2021: As per the recent updates, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to drop the controversial Class 10 English comprehension passage for allegedly promoting "gender stereotyping" and supporting "regressive notions". As per a recent notice, to ensure uniformity full marks will be awarded to all the students for passage 1 for all sets of the question paper.
Earlier, the board had referred the matter to a committee of subject experts. On Monday, it issued a circular stating that the passage has been dropped. Various excerpts from the passage have gone viral on social media with users calling out the board for supporting "misogynistic" and "regressive opinions" and hashtag "CBSE insults women" trending on Twitter.

It has been stated in the circular that "A passage in one set of the English Language and Literature paper of CBSE Class X first term examination held on 11th December 2021, is not in accordance with the guidelines of the board with regard to setting of question papers. In this backdrop and on the basis of feedback received from stakeholders, the matter was referred to a committee of subject experts."
It further added, "As per their recommendation, it has been decided to drop the passage No.1 and its accompanying questions of the Question Paper Series JSK/1. Full marks will be awarded for this passage to all the students concerned." To avoid any problems, the Board has further said in its official notice, "Full marks will also be awarded to students for passage No. 1 for all Sets of the question paper Class X English language and Literature."

The passage had featured in one set of the Class 10 English Term 1 board exam question papers on Saturday. The three-paragraph long passage drew criticism for being “retrograde” and offensive to women.
