The CBSE - Central Board of Secondary Education has asked the Delhi Police Special Cell to take action against the people involved in circulating fake news regarding the examination paper leak on social media creating panic among the students and the general public.
In a statement issued by the board, it has stated that many anti-social elements are uploading fake messages which includes providing question papers and asking candidates to make a payment for the question papers, posting fake videos regarding the CBSE paper leak which misleads students and parents.
In the statement issued, the CBSE has stated that it has filed an FIR under different provisions of IPC and IT act and also initiated action against the perpetrators. The board is also working to make sure that the information that they are receiving is genuine by contacting individuals who report such news and have taken follow-up action for the security of the on-going examinations.
CBSE began the Class 10 and 12 Board examinations on February 15, 2020, across the country.
In the statement issued the Board has also assured that it will continue to locate and identify more links and uploads on the video-sharing platform - YouTube and other social media platforms that falsely claim of possessing the Board question papers. Complaints will also be filed with the Delhi Police to take suitable and strict action against the people found guilty.
The Board has also asked for the co-operation of the people by not believing or involving themselves in the fake and unverified news and also help in maintaining the sanctity of the examinations being conducted.
Over 30 lakh students registered for the CBSE board examinations out of which 18,89,878 students registered for the class 10 examinations and 12,06,893 students registered for the class 12 examinations.
