
The final decision on the Class 12 board examinations will be taken based on the widest possible consultation and best possible option considering the current situation and the future of the students. Sources from the government have stated that the high-level meeting conducted on Sunday attended by Union Ministers and representatives from states regarding the class 12 board examinations came after the Prime minister called for a consultation to consider suggestions and ideas from the state governments.
PM conducts Meeting
The Prime Minister conducted a meeting on May 21, 2021, with the Union Education Ministry briefing him on the consultations done with parents and teachers and also informed him of the options regarding the exams. The Prime Minister, while pointing out the government needs to make a decision considering the present situation and the future of the students stated that a high-level meeting with all the states and senior Union Ministers must be conducted to consider the suggestions and ideas.
Sources also state that the final decision will be based on the widest consultative process and will be the best possible option considering the current situation and the future of the students.
Union Ministers attend meeting on Sunday
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conducted a meeting on Sunday which was conducted to decide on the class 12 board exams and the entrance examinations which were postponed due to the second wave of the pandemic. Union Ministers including Smriti Irani, Prakash Javadekar, and Sanjay Dhotre also attended the meeting along with education Ministers and secretaries of several states and union territories.
During the meeting, the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that there is a consensus among states about conducting the class 12 exams and an informed collaborative decision will be taken by June 1, 2021.
