Open House Discussion on NEP-2020: As per the updates, Delhi University has organized a day-long Open House Discussion on NEP 2020 at the Convention Centre of North Campus. The programme was jointly organized by the Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL), the University of Delhi, and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Apart from NEP 2020, the discussion also emphasised on National Professional Standards for Teachers and National Mentoring Mission.
Proper Implementation of NEP 2020 is Important
At the Open House Discussion, Vice-chancellor, Prof. Yogesh Singh stated that the proper implementation of NEP 2020 is essential. He advocated value-based learning and advised teachers to have an open mind for learning and introspection. Mr. Sarangi, IAS, Chairman, said that the core objective of NEP is to create global citizens with 21st-century skills with an Indian value system. He proposed a mentorship role for retired professors and an open-source national digital architecture to provide a technological platform for mentors and mentees.
First Panel Discussion on National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST)
The first Panel Discussion on NPST was chaired by Prof. Anita Rastogi of Jamia Millia Islamia. The panelists discussed various dimensions of teacher education at the core of the NEP 2020. The panel suggested a better connection between culture, knowledge, education, and space for creativity in teaching. The policy should also focus on effective communication skills and emotional quotient as core qualities for teachers.
Second Panel on National Mentoring Mission
The second panel on National Mentoring Mission was chaired by Professor PK Mishra and started with a presentation followed by deliberations by the panelists on various dimensions of the mentoring scheme, an integral part of the NEP 2020. Prof Mishra and panelists agree that anyone could be a mentor and a mentee. There should be no apprehension in exchanging ideas and learning.

The inaugural session was addressed by various dignitaries

Sherpa, Member Secretary NCTE and Prof. Saroj Sharma of NIOS. Further, the concluding remarks were given by Ms. K.Y. Sherpa and Prof. Ratnabali, Dean Academic, Activities and Projects, University of Delhi.
