The Delhi University has adopted new and improved measures to curb the practice of ragging on its campus during the new and upcoming academic session of 2019-20. In a meeting of the senior staff members of the University and the officials from DTC, metro, and police that was held earlier this week various decisions were made to reinforce the strict implementation of anti-ragging and anti-harassment measures. It University is looking forward to adopting several security measures with the start of the new academic session.
Delhi University officials have also decided to set up two joint control rooms in one in North Campus and the other one in South Campus between July 20, 2019 to July 27, 2019, as precautionary measure. The helpline for the North Campus Control Room is 27667221 whereas the helpline number for the south campus control room is 24119832. The University said that each college, faculty, department and hostel will be forming a anti-ragging or disciplinary committee and vigilance squad.
The University also said that each student and their parents or guardians will be required to sign a mandatory anti-ragging affidavit. The colleges will have police pickets assigned to them and if any student is found ragging another student, he/she will be faced with legal consequences along with suspension or cancellation of the degree.
The University has also taken measures in case a student wishes to complain regarding any sort of harassment faced by them. A student who wishes to report or place a complaint regarding any incident related to ragging in their college can do so by calling at the anti-ragging helpline number 1801805522 or call at the helpline numbers of the joint control room as mentioned above. The University has also put sensitive areas on the campus under strict surveillance. It has also put of anti-ragging posters both in Hindi and English Languages in every college.
