At a time when humanity is faced with the unprecedented challenge of climate change and its impact, several young warriors are being prepared to take on this challenge under the banner of Education for Sustainable Development. Educational Institutions and Schools across the globe have taken up the responsibility of preparing the leaders of tomorrow who embody the spirit of sustainability by integrating the values of 17 UN SDGs within their curriculum and activities.
ARCedtech (a pioneer in Education for Sustainable Development), SDG Chaupal (SDGAction Initiative of Nagrik Foundation) and EarthDay.org will recognize these institutions through the Global Sustainability Awards 2021. These Awards will applaud the efforts made by schools to foster the culture of sustainability among children and showcase the best practices from schools around the globe. An eminent panel of Jurists drawn from the field of education and institutions supporting the SDGs will select the winners from a pool of applicants from India and abroad. There are no fees involved at any stage and the winners will be chosen through a totally transparent selection process.
JagranJosh.com (education portal of Jagran New Media, the digital wing of Dainik Jagran) supports the UN’s Agenda 2030 and is the media partner for these awards. Other distinguished partners include Founders4Schools and Eco Roots Foundation.
Why Global Sustainability Awards?
In 2015, the United Nations drew up 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted by 193 member countries. These SDGs are aimed at working on three immediate challenges i.e., end poverty, bridge inequality and take action for climate change. Keeping these in mind, it is important to make our future generations not only aware of the challenges that we face but also orient them towards finding viable and lasting solutions. This is why, Education, especially School-level education at the K-12 level, was decided as the first step that leads to the goal of sustainability.
