Executive Council of Goa Board has announced that class 9th and 11th students who have failed more than 2 subjects can now appear for June Supplementary examinations.

The Executive Council of the Goa Board has announced that students who failed the Class 9th and 11th examination in more than two subjects are now eligible to appear for the supplementary examinations be conducted in the month of June. Until now, the board allowed only those students who had failed in one or two subjects were allowed to appear for the supplementary examinations.

Also, students must note that they will be allowed to appear for the board examinations even if they fail in more than two subjects in Class 9th or 11th. Goa Board's Chairman,  Ramkrishna Samant said that 'The EC has approved the proposal of allowing students detained in Class 9th and 11th to appear for the supplementary exam even if they fail in more than two subjects.' The students who fail again will be allowed to keep terms in Class 9th and 11th. These students will have to appear in additional examinations while studying in class 10th and 11th and will also be allowed to appear for Class 10th and 12th board examination.

Samant further said that 'candidates must note that their results will be kept on hold until they clear the board examination within two years.' This decision will, however, be implemented from the 2020-21 academic year as told by the board. Students will now be promoted to higher classes even if they fail at the supplementary examinations. However, these students will be given further tests in order to allow them to clear the previously failed examinations.

The Goa Board has undertaken this initiative to save the academic years of the students who fail in the examination and help them cope up with the same subsequently. The board also announced on Friday that it will be introducing new subjects such as Astronomy and Biotechnology as optional subjects for Class 9th and 11th.
