
Haryana Govt Waives Off Tuition Fees: In much needed relaxation, the Haryana State Government has announced waiver of tuition fees for Girl Students who pursuing their higher studies with Colleges or Universities in the state. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the new rule for tuition fees levied by higher educational institutions, confirming waiver for girl-students who are pursuing post-graduation courses. The announcement will help students belonging to poor families to continue their post-graduate level studies without worrying about the financial burdern.
Who will Benefit from this Announcement?
The news about waiver of tuition fees for girl students who are pursuing their post-graduation in college and universities based in the state, was also confirmed by CMO Haryana’s official twitter handle. In a tweet, CMO Haryana confirmed that all girl-students belonging to underprivileged families will be able to take benefit of this decision. According to the official order, girl students who belong to a family whose overall family income is below 1.8 Lakhs per annum, from all sources, will qualify to take benefit of this scheme.
Other Initiatives Announced for Higher Education
Recently, the Haryana State Government has announced a series of measures and policy changes to promote higher education and make it more accessible to the students of the state. These changes have been targeted to benefit students who from social and economically backward sections of the society. Recently, the state government had announced that it would be providing free text books to college students under the Scheduled Caste category. On similar lines, girl students were also promised passports along with their graduation degree by the state government in another similar decision to promote higher education.
Prior to that, the state government declared all higher-education institutions and their campuses as tobacco free zones and launched a massive anti-tobacco awareness drive. As part of this drive, college and university authorities have been asked to make the students aware about harmful impacts of tobacco and discourage its usage.
