Indian Institute of Information and Technology, Allahabad is likely to announce the four-year undergraduate specialization in Mass Media Informatics under the B. Tech (IT) program. The news of the launch was confirmed by IIITA Director, Professor Nagabhushan. The new four-year undergraduate programme is being launched given the dire need of media industry experts. As per the Director, the graduates of the soon-to-be-launched programme will retain the knowledge of Information Technology as the main subject with expertise in Media and Entertainment domain.
Ahead of launching the B. Tech IT in Mass Media Informatics programme, IIIT Allahabad organized a two-day workshop on the upcoming four-year undergraduate programme. The workshop acted as a medium for aspirants and faculty to become familiar with the Mass Media Informatics course. Professor Nagabhushan said the IIIT Allahabad Board of Governors had already given a green signal to go ahead with the soon-to-be-launched B. Tech specialization. Hence, the works shop was conducted where experts were invited to share their valuable opinion and information regarding the proposed B. Tech program i.e. B. Tech IT in Mass Media Informatics.
Several industry experts familiar with the proposed programme were invited to the programme, as per Professor Anupam Agrawal, coordinator of the workshop. The panel of experts included Professor Govindji Pandey, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow, Jatin Srivastava, Associate Professor, EW Scripps School of Journalism, Ohio University of US and Professor Sisir Basu, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Faculty of Arts, BHU, Varanasi to name a few. The panelist spoke on the proposed B. Tech program and the ideas shared by them would be incorporated by IIIT Allahabad confirmed IIITA Director, Prof. Nagabhushan.
