IIM Bangalore Gets Tata Trusts Backing for New Undergraduate School; First 80 Students to Begin Classes on August 31
IIM Bangalore has partnered with Tata Trusts to develop its new undergraduate school. Check details on the first 80 students, BSc programmes, campus and 2027 admissions.
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) has received generous support from Tata Trusts for the development of its new undergraduate school. The institute has also finalised its first undergraduate cohort, with 80 students selected from around 12,000 applications for the inaugural batch.
The new institution will be named the IIM Bangalore-Dorabji Tata School of Undergraduate Studies. IIM Bangalore and Tata Trusts have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the partnership and support the development of the school.

IIM Bangalore UG School: First Batch to Start on August 31
The first batch of IIM Bangalore's undergraduate school will begin classes on August 31, 2026. The inaugural category consists of 80 students, with 40 students each enrolled in two four-year, full-time residential programmes. The programmes are:
- BSc (Hons) in Data Sciences with a minor in Economics
- BSc (Hons) in Economics with a minor in Data Sciences

The new school marks IIM Bangalore's expansion into undergraduate education. The institute has traditionally been known for its postgraduate, doctoral and executive education programmes.
The undergraduate school is being developed around an interdisciplinary academic model combining areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, economics and business. IIM Bangalore said the school will focus on research, innovation and globally benchmarked learning.
