Kendriya Vidyalaya refutes claims about controversial TN Class 6 Question paper, says it doesn't belong to KV

Kendriya Vidyalaya has refuted claims about the controversial TN Class 6 Question Paper which posed controversial stereotypical questions about Caste and Religion. The questions from the question paper went viral on social media, forcing Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to issue a clarification in this regard. KV has confirmed that the paper doesn’t belong to them but is from a local school in Tamil Nadu. The information was officially released by KVS in the form of a press release on Saturday evening.

What is the controversy?

As per media reports, a school in Tamil Nadu in its question paper for Class 6 Exam included some controversial questions about caste and religion. The question paper poses questions about societal stereotypes about Dalits and Muslims. The controversial questions can be seen in the image provided below:

DMK President Stalin Tweets Question Paper

Adding fuel to fire, DMK President MK Stalin also took notice of the controversial questions in the Class 6 Question paper. He sent out a tweet along with a picture of the controversial questions which read “Shocked and appalled to see that a Class 6 Kendriya Vidyalaya exam contains questions that propagate caste discrimination and communal division.

Those who are responsible for drafting this Question Paper must be prosecuted under appropriate provisions of law.@HRDMinistry”.

Following Stalin’s tweet, AMMK leader TTV Dinakaran also lashed out at CBSE for including such question in a Class 6 question paper without considering the impact it would have on the minds of youngsters. He further added that people responsible for such questions should be identified and action must be taken against them.

Despite tall claims made by several political figures, both Kendriya Vidyalaya and CBSE have refuted the claims that the question paper is part of their examination format. Issuing a clarifying statement, CBSE said that it does not set question papers for internal exams in "any class for any school”. Similarly KVS also issued a statement saying that no evidence has so far been brought to the notice of KVS which may establish that the question paper belongs to a Kendriya Vidyalaya.”
