Kerala’s AI Teacher, Iris: A Kerala school has introduced the country’s first AI Teacher, Iris to take an innovative step towards education. Iris was created in partnership with Makerlabs Edutech and is the state's and probably the nation's first humanoid robot teacher.
KTCT Higher Secondary School, which is an initiative by the Kaduvayil Thangal Charitable Trust was the mind behind this innovation. Iris is a part of the 2021 NITI Aayog project Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), which aims to increase extracurricular activities in schools.
A video posted by the Makerlabs on Instagram demonstrates the possibilities of this AI teacher who speaks multiple languages. Iris is capable of answering intricate queries across various subjects, offering individualized voice support, and promoting interactive educational opportunities. In addition, Iris is equipped with wheels to increase mobility.

Significant Shift in Education Landscape
As per the latest post shared by Makerlabs Edutech, the AI Teacher is at the forefront of innovation and the lab proudly unveiled the latest creation in Thiruvananthapuram. Iris aims to redefine the learning landscape for students. The AI robot has features that include voice assistance, interactive learning modules, manipulation capabilities, and mobility.
This evolution marks a significant shift in Kerala's education landscape. Iris has the ability to enhance student engagement in the classroom, personalize instruction, and accommodate various learning preferences.
