Ludhiana School Reopening News: As per media reports, Government Senior Secondary School, Chauntain based in Ludhiana has turned into COVID-19 hotspot recently, with over 15 students and 2 staff members testing positive for COVID-19. Following the identification of Coronavirus cases from school, the district administration has ordered the closure of the school until 2nd March 2021. The formal order regarding closure of the school, after it turned into a COVID-19 hotspot was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana to avoid further spread of the contagion among the students.
School Closed by District Administration
Confirming the development, the Ludhiana District Administration issued a statement saying that “The district administration closed Government Senior Secondary School, Chaunta, till March 2 after 15 students and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.” Moreover, in line with the COVID-19 SOPs, all the students and staff-members who were found to be positive have been sent to into isolation.
Schools Reopened on 7th January
Punjab State Government allowed reopening of schools in the state for Class 5 to 12 students starting from 7th January 2021 onwards. The decision to reopen schools in the state was taken keeping in mind the academic challenges being faced by students, especially those coming from poor and rural background who didn’t have access to online classes. Following successful reopening of schools for upper primary and secondary schools; the state government also allowed phased reopening of Schools for Class 1 to 5 students from 1st week of February 2021. However, in order to ensure safe return of students back to school campus, the state government had imposed strict COVID-19 SOPs and Guidelines.
