The Human Resource Development Ministry has announced an internship programme for undergraduate students. The internship programme is applicable to any Indian citizen or OCI cardholder pursuing their undergraduate or integrated PG studies in Education, Social Sciences, Science, Humanities, Management, Engineering, ICT and Law. It must be noted that those students who will be completing their final year in November/December 2019 are also eligible to apply for the internship programme. Those candidates in their third or fourth year must have completed at least 2 years of the programme in order to apply for the internship programme.
Only those students belonging to the list of institutions provided below are eligible to apply for the internship programme. the list includes Institutions of National Importance/ Institution of Eminence, Institutions in the top 50 NIRF 2019 ranking for technical/management category, top 10 law institutions within the NIRF 2019 ranking, Institutions from top 50 NIRF 2019 ranking for universities, International institutions of eminence in the QS top 100.
The students applying for the internship will be required to supplement the policy analysis process within the ministry with the help of desirable empirical collection along with the collation of in-house and other information. The internship is available for the Higher Education and School Education and Literacy domains of the ministry.
The internship will be in November or December 2019 which is extendable for up to 6 months. A total of 15 slots are available in one cycle and the students selected for the internship will be given a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month after completing the internship.
The HRD Minister also launched the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programmes called DHRUV recently at the Indian Space Research Organization Headquarters in Bangalore.
