NEET PG Hearing 2024: The Supreme Court is hearing the petitions filed by NEET PG 2024 aspirants today, September 13, 2024. The petitions were filed raising concerns over the transparency of the NEET PG results along with the normalisation of scores by NBE. NEET PG result was announced on August 23, 2024.

NEET PG aspirants submitted the petition on September 7 and a three-member panel consisting of CJI DU Chandrachud, Justice Manoj Misra and JB Pardiwala are hearing the matter today.
As per the petition filed, students have requested the SC to instruct NBEMS to release the NEET PG answer key for all shifts, response sheers, raw and pre-normalised scores and the normalised results. The petitioners have also raised concerns and flagged the NEET PG counselling process and asked for it to be suspended until the concerns of students are addressed. The petitioners have stated that the release of the NEET PG answer key, question papers should be a standard practice to ensure complete transparency.

Why was the Petition Filed?

As per reports, 2,185 students scored 99 percentile in the NEET PG 2024 exams. The increase in marks and ranks has been flagged as suspicious among students demanding transparency in the marking process of the PG entrance exam and the normalisation of scores. 19 candidates moved the Supreme Court against NBEMS demanding clarity in the marking process among several other issues mentioned in the petition.

AIIMS Scoring method adopted for NEET PG

The NBEMS in August issued a notification explaining the normalisation process for preparing the NEET PG result. The notice was issued a day ahead of the exams mentioning that NBE has adopted the marking process currently followed by AIIMS Delhi for various entrance exams. The notification mentions that NBEMS has adopted the marking scheme currently used by AIIMS Delhi for exams conducted in more than one shift to prepare the NEET PG result.
