
NEP 2020: As per the updates, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be launching major initiatives of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 tomorrow on 24th August 2021. As part of the major initiatives, Education Ministry stated that a booklet on one-year achievements of NEP 2020 and an alternative academic calendar of NCERT will also be launched. NEP major initiatives launch will be broadcast live tomorrow at 10:15 am. The event will also go live on YouTube and the Twitter handle of the Ministry of Education.
National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy
The National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat seeks to ensure that every child in the country necessarily attains foundational literacy and numeracy by the end of Class 3, by 2026-27, will also be launched tomorrow. The Education Minister will also inaugurate resources on DIKSHA and virtual school on National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) tomorrow.
The Department has developed a comprehensive guideline under NIPUN Bharat, through a series of intensive consultations with implementing partners, experts to make it flexible and collaborative. It covers key technical aspects of foundational literacy and numeracy as well as the administrative aspects for effectively setting up an implementation mechanism at the national, state, district, block and school levels.
Unique Feature and Overall Aim
The unique feature of the initiative includes the goals of the mission being set in the form of "Lakshya Soochi" or Targets for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. The overall aim is to achieve the desired learning outcomes by the end of grade 3, however, in order to generate greater awareness among the parents, community, volunteers etc, the Lakshyas have been developed from Balvatika to grade 3.
PM Modi Launched Multiple Educational Schemes to Mark First Anniversary of NEP 2020
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed policymakers in the education domain, students, teachers, across the country today on 29th July 2021. The meeting was held via video conferencing, to mark the completion of one year of National Education Policy 2020. On this occasion, he launched multiple educational initiatives/schemes to mark the first anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Prime Minister launched the Academic Bank of Credit that will provide multiple entries and exit options to the students in higher education, first-year engineering programmes in regional languages and guidelines for internationalisation of higher education will also be launched.
