Odisha Govt Extends COVID-19 Lockdown: Odisha Government has decided to extend the state-wide lockdown imposed due to Coronavirus pandemic until 30th April 2020. Following the decision, all educational institutes including schools, colleges and universities have been ordered to remain until 17th June 2020, as per media reports. The news about extension in the lockdown period in Odisha was confirmed by the Odisha Chief Minsiter Naveen Patnaik through a video message. In the message he thanked the people of Odisha for showing discipline and maturity during the on-going lockdown. He said that "During ongoing lockdown period amid Covid-19 crisis, your discipline and sacrifice has provided us the strength to fight Covid-19.” However, keeping in mind the rising numbers and to ensure safety of people, the government decided to extend the lockdown by 15 days- the first state in the country to do so.
Educational Institutions to remain closed until 17th June
While the lockdown in Odisha has been extended till 30th April 2020 i.e. 15 days beyond the current nation-wide lockdown; the state government has decided to close all educational institutions in Odisha until 17th June. This decision was also conveyed by CM Patnaik during his video announcement. In this message he said that “Educational institutions in the state to remain closed till June 117th.” This means that all educational institutions including schools, colleges, universities and even professional training institutes will remain closed in the state until 17th June.
Update awaited on Pending CHSE 12th Exam 2020
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik in his video message confirmed that educational institutions will remain closed in the state until June, he has not provided any clarification about the CHSE +2 Exam 2020 that were postponed from 23rd March onwards due to COVID-19 outbreak. The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha, is yet to conduct a few exams for 12th Class students. However, following the announcement of the Chief Minister, the CHSE Odisha Board is also expected to issue a clarification in this regards soon.
