Schools, Educational institutes in Chandigarh to be closed until May 15 due to COVID-19 crisis

Chandigarh administration has announced new directives for closure of schools and educational institutions due to the increasing COVID-19 caes. The schools, educational institutions and libraries will be closed  until May 15, 2021. Check complete details here.

Chandigarh administration has announced new directives for stopping the spread of COVID-19 with the closure of schools and educational institutions. The Chandigarh administration has announced to close down educational institutions, schools, colleges, coaching institutions due to the increasing COVID-19 cases. As per the announcement, the educational institutions and libraries will remain closed until May 15, 2021.

Weekend Curfew imposed

The official statement released by the Chandigarh administration states that weekend curfew will be imposed from 5 AM on Saturday until 5 AM on Monday and only essential activities will be allowed during the weekend curfew. Educational institutions like schools, colleges, coaching centres, libraries will remain closed until May 15, 2021.

Schools Summer Vacations

The Chandigarh Education Department has earlier announced one-month summer vacation for the government schools from May 1, 2021, and the Union Territory administration also directed the educational institutions including schools to remain closed until April 30, 2021, except the agent and time-bound academic activities.

Many other state governments have announced weekend curfew due to increasing COVID-19 cases along with postponing the state and national level examinations. Strict lockdowns are also being imposed in a few states to curb the spread of the disease. 

Class 10 and 12 Examinations have been postponed or cancelled by a majority of the state governments. The revised dates of the postponed class 10 and 12 examinations are expected to be released on the official website of the respective boards.
