New Exam Pattern for TN Class 12 Public Exams 2025

The Tamil Nadu State Board has introduced a new exam pattern for both private and regular students. Each subject in the Class 12 public exam will have 70 or 90 marks as opposed to the old syllabus with 200 marks each.

Private Students Under Old Syllabus

Private students who previously failed the exams under the old syllabus must reappear for the equivalent subject under the new syllabus.

Mandatory Practical Exam: Passing Criteria

  • To pass a subject with a practical exam, students must:
  • Score at least 15 marks out of 70 in the written exam.
  • Attend and participate in the practical exam.
  • Score a cumulative minimum of 35 marks from the written exam, internal assessment, and practical exam.
  • If a student passes the written exam but does not appear for the practical exam, they must reappear for the practical exam alone.
