TN Schools Closed: Tamil Nadu Government has ordered closure of all schools across the state including offline classes for Class 10 and Class 12 students until 31st January 2022. In addition to this, the state government has also suspended or postponed all exams, including ones starting on 19th January until further notice.

TN Schools Closed: With COVID-19 situation getting more worrisome every day, the Tamil Nadu State Government has decided to order closure of all schools in the state until January – end. According to the latest order, all schools in TN, including for Class 10 and 12 students, will remain closed for offline or physical classes. The order will remain applicable until 31st January 2022. Earlier, the state government had ordered closure of schools only for primary school students i.e. Class 1 to 9 until 20th January 2022. However, the new order passed recently covers Class 10, 11 and 12 students as well as will be applicable until January-end.

Exams Postponed until further Notice

In addition to suspension of offline or physical classes, the state government has also ordered postponement of all school-level exams, including the ones starting from 19th January 2022 onwards. The state government has asked all school-level authorities to suspend any testing until January end and have asked them to prepare exam schedule for dates that fall after January. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety and health of the students and to curb the spread of infections, especially that of Omicron.

Children’s Vaccination Drive to be Ramped Up

With TN SSLC and HS Board Exams lined up in the coming months, the state government has also decided to ramp-up the on-going vaccination drive for Children. On 3rd January, the state government launched Children’s vaccination drive for eligible kids falling in the group of 15 to 18 years. With an aim to keep students who are due to sit for up-coming board exams safe, the state government has asked officials to mobilize schools and parents to get students inoculated against the virus as soon as possible. Until then, keeping the rising number of COVID cases in mind, the state government has ordered closure of schools.
