UP Schools Closed due to COVID: As per the latest update, the Uttar Pradesh State Government has decided to close-down schools for students of upto Class 8 from 24th to 31st March 2021 in the light of the increasing COVID-19 cases. Moreover, the state government has also asked all educational institutions who are currently not holding any exams to remain closed for this period as a precautionary measure. The decision comes in response to 46,951 cases which were reported in the country yesterday. Of these, 488 were reported in UP. The total active case load of UP stood at 3036 active cases as of yesterday.
Decision Taken After High-level Meeting
The decision to close-down schools across the state for students of upto Class 8, was taken by the state government keeping in mind rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by UP CM Yogi Adityanath with senior officers of the taskforce. Schools in UP had reopened in phased manner, starting November 2020, following the permission from the Central Government. From the beginning of this year, classes for all students were permitted.
Schools Closed in Different States due to COVID-19
With the recent spike in the Coronavirus cases across the country, several state governments have decided to close down schools as a precautionary measure to check the spread of the contagion. As per media reports, along with Uttar Pradesh, the states of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, etc. to close the schools again, due to the recent rise in the COVID-19 case numbers. Different state governments have already started taking strict steps to check the spread of the virus by implementing local lockdowns and closure of schools, cinema halls and other places.
