AIIMS, New Delhi, invited online applications, through prescribed form, for admission to MBBS course -2013 with it and with six new AIIMS like Institutions. For more information, read ahead.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, is an autonomous institution, established by an Act of Parliament with the objective to develop patterns of teaching in Undergraduate and Post-graduate Medical Education in all its branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of Medical Education in India. The Institute awards its own medical degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions. These degrees and diplomas are recognized medical qualifications for the purpose of the Indian Medical Council Act. The Institute is a residential university in which the faculty members, staff and the students live on campus. There are 8 hostels for undergraduate students (6 for boys and 2 for girls) with a capacity to accommodate 850 students.

Six (6) new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, similar to AIIMS, New Delhi, have been established under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana’ at Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar.

AIIMS, New Delhi, invited online applications, through prescribed form, for admission to MBBS course -2013 with it and with six new AIIMS like Institutions. Entrance Exam for admission to the course will be conducted on 1 June 2013. Interested candidates can apply online till 24 March 2013 through AIIMS website

Government has decided that for the Academic Session 2013-2014 in these six new AIIMS will start in August 2013 with 100 students per Institution and selection for admission would be done through the same entrance examination through which candidates are selected for AIIMS New Delhi. The Admission will be done on the basis of merit-cum-choice of the candidates.

Important Dates:

1. Last Date for applying On-line: 24 March 2013 (up o 5:00 P.M.)

3. Last Date to deposit fee in Bank through fee payment challan: 26 March 2013

4. Date of hosting / Uploading the Admit Cards on AIIMS website: 16 May 2013

5. Entrance Exam to be held on: 1 June 2013 (10.00 AM to 1.30 PM)

6. Expected date of declaration of result: 1 July 2013

For AIIMS New Delhi:

1. Medical Check-up: 12 July 2013

2. Orientation Programme: from 15 July 2013 to 2 August 2013

3. Classes start: 5 August 2013

at AIIMS New Delhi: 73 seats -- 72 seats for Indian Nationals and 1 (one) seat for Foreign National.

at other Six AIIMS like Institutions: 100 seats each

For Indian Nationals (Common to AIIMS New Delhi & other Sis AIIMS like Institutions):

Age (as on 31December of the year of admission):

Minimum: 17 years. (Candidates born on or after 2 January, 1997 are not eligible)

Educational: Passed 12th Class under the (10+2) Scheme / Senior qualifications School Certificate Examination or Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or an equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology with a minimum of 60% marks (General & OBC candidates) and 50% (SC/ST candidates).

Note : Candidates who have appeared or are appearing at the qualifying examination are eligible to apply and appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination.

For Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) (Common to AIIMS New Delhi & other Sis AIIMS like Institutions): OCI are eligible to appear in this test and all terms and conditions applicable for Indian Nationals will be applicable to them. However, the candidate will have to submit proof of Registration as OCI under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 to be eligible to appear to this test.

For Foreign Nationals (For AIIMS New Delhi only): Foreign candidate nominated by the Government of India are required to have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology in their Intermediate (Science) or an equivalent examination to be eligible for admission to the MBBS Course. They are NOT required to appear at the Competitive Entrance Examination.

Examination Centers: The examination will be held in eighteen cities. Candidates should indicate their 1st choice of centre in the application form. In case of any discrepancy and non availability of centre in the city as opted, the centre as allotted by AIIMS will be considered as final. The centres are:

Candidates should report at the examination centre at 8:30 a.m. No candidate will be allowed entry in the examination centre after 9:55 a.m. They should NOT bring pen/pencil to the Examination Hall as the same will be provided by AIIMS at the examination centre for writing/marking responses on (OMR) answer sheet.

Selection Procedure: The Competitive Entrance Examination will be conducted in both Online and Offline mode on 1 June 2013 (Saturday). Candidates must give their preference (online / offline) in the application form at the time of applying.

The online mode will be subject to availability of minimum candidates in a particular centre, failing which, candidates will be asked to appear for the Examination through offline mode only or at other city and decision of AIIMS will be final in this regard.

The venue and time of the examination will be communicated to the candidates in the Admit Card.

All eligible candidates can download their Admit cards hosted on the website. No candidate will be allowed to enter the Examination Hall without a valid Admit Card and ID proof.

Entrance Examination: The 3½ hour Examination will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions from Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions), Biology (60 questions), and General Knowledge (20 questions). Each question will be of one mark.

There is provision of negative marks. For each wrong answer, candidates will get a score of -1/3 (minus-one-third). No credit will be given for questions not answered / attempted but giving more than one response will be treated as wrong answer and will be negatively marked.

General standard of the Entrance Examination will be that of 12th class under (10+2) Scheme / Intermediate (Science). Question paper will be provided either in English or in Hindi.

Based on the result of the Entrance Examination, merit lists will be prepared and admission process will be initiated. There will be four merit lists:

A similar selection procedure will apply for the six new AIIMS. Candidates desirous of being considered for admission to any of the six institutions apart from AIIMS New Delhi should indicate their preference in the application form.

However, no liability of any kind whatsoever pertaining to the MBBS course at these 6 AIIMS like Institutions and / or admissions thereto shall devolve upon AIIMS, New Delhi.

The list of candidates who qualify for admission to the M.B.B.S. course would be declared by 1 July 2013 and their Roll numbers will be displayed on notice board of Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi and at all the 6 New AIIMS sites and will also be available on AIIMS websites. An intimation to the effect will also be sent to the selected candidates by the Institute through Speed Post / Registered Post.

The candidates recommended for admission on the basis of results of the Entrance Examination, will be required to submit attested copies of relevant certificates / mark-sheets to Assistant Controller of Examinations, AIIMS, New Delhi by hand / speed post / Registered post within 7 (seven) days from the date of declaration of result of the Entrance Examination.

Any document / certificate submitted separately at later stage should bear the following title: "Application Form No....... for M.B.B.S. Entrance Examination, 2013".

Selected candidates will have to undergo medical examination by a Medical Board set up by the Institute, consisting of Faculty Members of the Institute. Only those candidates found medically fit will be admitted to the course.5:0 ADMISSION PROCEDURE AND DATE OF JOINING
Admitted candidates will be required to join classes on 1 August 2013 (5 August 2013 for AIIMS, New Delhi).

Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of Rs.1000 (Rs.800 for SC / ST candidates) has to be deposited in any branch of State Bank of India through a Challan Form available online for download. All candidates will have to pay Transaction / Processing Fee, as applicable, to the Bank.

[Those applying on 24 March 2013 i.e. last date of registration and are unable to deposit the fee through challan mode on the same day must deposit the fee in next two working days i.e. up to 26 March 2013 failingwhich their candidature will not be considered.]

How to Apply

Indian Nationals (Common to AIIMS New Delhi & other 6 AIIMS like Institutions):  Interested eligible candidates should submit their application online through the website. After filling the online registration form, they should deposit the prescribed fee through Debit/Credit Card or in the designated Bank through a Challan.

Candidates should save and download a print of the Registration Slip and retain it till the completion of Admission Process.

Acknowledgement with regard to successful Online Registration will be forwarded to applicant’s email ID / an SMS will be sent on candidates’ mobile. The status of Application / Admit Card will also be available on AIIMS website after 16 May 2013.

Candidates are advised to check acknowledgement of their Online Registration. Candidates, whose Application Registration No. / Admit Card status is not available on website, should immediately write to “The Assistant Controller of Examinations, AIIMS, New Delhi -110 029” along with full particulars of the Registration of the application form.

No document (copies of certificates, mark-sheets etc.) is required to be attached with the application.

Foreign Nationals (For AIIMS, New Delhi only): There is only one (01) seat reserved for foreign candidates for admission to MBBS Course to which nomination is made by the Government of India. Therefore, Foreign nationals are required to apply to the Government of India through their Diplomatic Channels and not to AIIMS.

These candidates should, therefore, correspond with the Ministry of External Affair, Government of India, New Delhi.
