    Biotechnology: Principles and Processes (part-2)

What is Biotechnology? How many marks carried by the chapter Biotechnology in class 12 board examinations? What are the tools of biotechnology? What is the application of Biotechnology: Principles and Processes? How the first recombinant DNA was produced? What is the role of restriction enzyme? Describe the naming convention of enzymes.

    Biotechnology: Principles and Processes (part-1)

Restriction endonuclease,Hind II was the first restriction enzyme whose functioning depended on a specific DNA nucleotide sequence was isolated and characterized. It was found that Hind II always cut DNA molecules at a particular point by recognizing a specific sequence of six base pairs. Ecognition sequence for Hind II is the specific base sequence. Besides Hind II, today we know more than 900 restriction enzymes that have been isolated from over 230 strains of bacteria each of which recognize different recognition sequences.
