This Thursday brings many smiles on the face of MBA aspirants, as Union Cabinet gave his final approval for setting up a new IIM in Jammu.
As per officials, from this session (2016 – 17) IIM will operate on a temporary basis at the Old Government College of Engineering and Technology. Government also projected a total cost of Rs.61.90 crore for coming four years (2016-20) on temporary campus of new IIM and also inform about setting up an out-campus in the Kashmir region later.
For current session there will be a total of 54 seats for the Post Graduate Diploma Programme (PGDP) in Management, which likely to go up at a strength of 120 in the fourth year.
IIM Jammu will be run and managed by a society with a Board of Governors, for this purpose cabinet also approved the formation of an IIM Jammu Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Board of Governors that are jointly responsible for running and management of IIM Jammu will be created by Union Government.
There was a total number of 13 IIM When new government formed in 2014 but after that government approved 07 new IIM campus forAmritsar, Sirmaur, Nagpur, Bodhgaya,Sambalpur, Vishakhapatnam and Jammu. Thus IIM Jammu is 20th temporary operational campus of the country.
